Political commentators seemed to have zoomed in on Shafie Apdal, the Rural and Regional Development Minister from Sabah, and Zahida Rafik, a 37-year-old actress known for her role in Anak Mami The Movie.
Both Shafie and Zahida have previously denied rumours of a relationship. Such talk has been circulating for quite a while and a Google search will easily yield thousands of postings.

Umno watchers expect the minister – whoever it turned out to be – to tear into the credibility of the driver who lodged the police report, giving details that exposed the alleged affair with the actress.

“Saya percayakannya sebab dia sudah bekerja dengan saya hampir lima tahun dan sebelum ini tidak pernah melakukan apa-apa kesalahan,” katanya.
Zahida berkata wang RM200,000 itu sepatutnya digunakan untuk membuat pembayaran kepada rakan perniagaannya di China.
“Sebelum ini sudah banyak kali dia (suspek) membantu saya dalam urusan memasukkan duit ke dalam akaun bagi urusan kerja, tapi tidaklah jumlah yang besar sebegini. “Kebiasaannya saya akan turut sama pergi dan dia hanya menemani. Namun, kali ini saya benar-benar tidak sempat kerana ibu sakit dan saya agak kelam-kabut di rumah bagi menguruskan beberapa perkara,” katanya. Muslim leaders have condemned the sex video conspiracy, widely believed to have been hatched by the Umno elite including Prime Minister Najib Razak to smear Anwar ahead of the general elections widely expected by year-end.
"What the investigation shows is that it is an authentic pornography video. It does not prove that Anwar Ibrahim is in that video," Kota Raja MP Siti Mariah Mahmud had told Malaysia Chronicle.
"This means that the Datuk T trio are criminals and are now guilty of distributing and displaying pornography. The police should deal with them now. There should be no excuses or delay."
The PAS leader also urged the authorities to raise the matter at the Syariah or Islamic court since the main protagonists involved were all Muslims.
"In Islam, if someone who claim to have witnessed 'zina' (adultery) without at least 4 other witnesses, he or she can be whipped 80 times so it is a heavy offense," Siti said.
Press freedom, Umno style
But oblivious to religion, Ahmad continued his tirade against Anwar's PKR party. PKR leaders plan to protest against unfair and seditious news reports published with impunity by Umno mouthpiece Utusan.
"They don't seem to understand press freedom. The demonstration is the work of cowards. Utusan has a right and a responsibility to give its views on issues that occupy the community. Other newspapers too have their own approach (to issues)," said Ahmad.

He is the latest Umno leader to defend Utusan's controversial report on a purported Christian conspiracy to turn Malaysia into a Christian state. The unsubstantiated report created a ruckus and deep unhappiness amongst the Christians in the country.
